Lenzites elegans KSG32: A Novel White Rot Fungus for Synthetic Dye Decolourization

چکیده

Synthetic dyes are complex aromatic compounds used in many industries like paper, printing, textile, food and cosmetics [1]. The major synthetic dyes include azo, triphenylmethane, anthraquinone and metal dyes. They are reported to be carcinogenic and thus their safe release into the environment poses a threat to public health. About 10-15% of the substrate unbound dyes from the industries are discharged into water bodies without any effective treatment [2]. The release of these effluents into water bodies affects all biological systems [3]. The removal or degradation of these dyes can be done by both physical and chemical methods. But the production of secondary pollutants like sludge and toxic compounds discourages the use of such costly methods [4]. These disadvantages can be overcome by adopting biological methods or green strategies. The most costeffective and eco-friendly approach is the removal of these dyes by various microorganisms and associated degrading enzymes [5].

Lignin degrading white rot fungus, Trametes versicolor isolated from the logs of Acacia nilotica L.Del.sp. indica in the Western Ghats region of Tamil Nadu, India. The fungus was used for the decolourization of azo dyes such as orange G, congo red and amido Black 10 B and also for colour removal from the dye industry effluents. Batch studies were conducted in a defined medium with pH-4.5. The r...

Effect of carbon and nitrogen source amendment on synthetic dyes decolourizing efficiency of white-rot fungus, Phanerochaete chrysosporium.

Decolourization activity of Phanerochaete chrysosporium for three synthetic dyes viz., congo red, malachite green and crystal violet and impact of additional carbon and nitrogen supply on decolourization capacity of fungus were investigated. Maximum decolourizing capacity was observed up to 15 ppm. Addition of urea as nitrogen source and glucose as carbon source significantly enhanced decolouri...

Enhanced decolourization of the azo dye Sirius rose BB by laccase–HBT system

Response surface methodology (RSM) was applied to optimize the decolourization of the diazo dye Sirius rose BB (SR) by crude laccase from the white-rot fungus Trametes sp. strain CLBE55. A Box–Behnken design using RSM with six variables, namely pH, incubation temperature, enzyme (laccase) concentration, 1-hydroxybenzotriazol (HBT) concentration, dye concentration and incubation time was used in...
